Unfortunately time constraints (i.e my day job) keep getting in the way of me updating this site so all Ive been able to do so far for Scunthorpes old football ground is a very basic bit of background.
The picture below is taken from a 1970’s Football Review magazine and it shows their “Old Show Ground” as it used to be.

Unfortunately I have had to set the resolution fairly low so as not to exceed bandwidth limits but the text on the picture reads as follows;
“Scunthorpe United FC Old Show Ground, Scunthorpe Lincs. Ground capacity : 25,000. Record attendance : 28,935 v Portsmouth, FA Cup 1959. Prices for League matches : Ground 6/- (pensioners and juveniles half price) Enclosure 7/-: West Stand 9/-: East Stand 8/-: Advance tickets available.
The Supporters Club social facilities are available to members of visiting Supporters Clubs and a club shop is open on the ground while the Supporters Club and Development Association also sell souvenirs. Alterations have been made to tea rooms on the ground this season.
How to get there : The ground is situated within two minutes walking distance of the town centre and is served by local corporation buses”
The picture above is available for sale (along with loads more Scunthorpe United memorabilia on our main site Footybits.
I will be coming back to this page to expand a bit on the history of this old football ground so if you have any old stories, photos or interesting facts about it please get in touch.
