Football memorabilia for all UK football teams

Carlisle United

Carlisle United have played their football at Brunton Park since 1909 and to this day it still looks like a good old fashioned football ground.

Carlisles football ground does have the unusual distinction of 20 yards of the main stand actually going on past the pitch itself, apparently this was due to them moving the pitch to allow redevelopment but then running out of money !!

PICTURE TO FOLLOW

Unfortunately we have had to set the resolution fairly low so as not to exceed our bandwidth limits but the text on the picture reads as follows;

“Uniteds trim and neat Brunton Park ground has a capacity set at 26,000 with seating of 2,500. The record attendance of 27,500 was set in an FA Cup tie against Birmingham City in 1957 and equalled for a cup game against Middlesbrough three years ago. Player inset: United striker Bobby Owen.”
