I cant find too much information about the company (Sweetule Products Ltd) that issued these cards but they do seem to have been quite prolific during the 1950’s and 60’s as far as cigarette cards went with a lot of cards for various subject matters.
They do appear to be have only one cigarette card series related to football though and that was a collection released in 1959 named “Football Club Nicknames”.
The series consisted of 25 cigarette cards that showed a couple of clues to the identity of the team in the way of a character depicting the clubs nickname and a picture of the teams strip.
An unusual item but great for the true fan who doesn’t need any telling which is their team !!
The 25 teams featured are;
Alloa Athletic, Arsenal, Aston Villa, Barnsley, Blackpool, Bolton Wanderers, Cardiff City, Charlton Athletic, Chelsea, Derby County, Everton, Manchester United, Millwall, Newcastle United, Nottingham Forest, Portsmouth, Queens Park, Sheffield United, Sheffield Wednesday, St Mirren, Swansea City, Spurs, West Bromwich Albion, West Ham United and Wolves.

A few examples of Sweetule “Football Club Nickname” cigarette cards .. how many can you name ?
I do have these for sale on my main football memorabilia site Footybits if you would like to get hold of your teams card or even maybe to fill the gaps in your existing cigarette card collection.
